How long has your company been in business?
Our Brick and Mortar shop has been open for 2.5 years now. This started as a part-time venture back in 2014.
In early 2016 I left my full-time corporate job as a Human Resources Business Partner to pursue The Lemonade Stand full-time.
In fall 2018, my husband and I opened up the shop as we know it now!
Where is your company located?
In beautiful downtown, historic Uxbridge, Ontario.
What's your elevator pitch - your company summary in a nutshell?
We are a Creative Vintage Studio that specializes in modern farmhouse decor, handmade goods, furniture paint, and dried flowers.
COVID shut down all our workshops as we were well known as a creative hub. We supplement with DIY kits now.
What inspires you for your product sourcing?
Modern farmhouse decor!
The Lemonade Stand started as a part-time venture back in 2014. I originally started painting by stumbling upon a dresser in a “Style at Home” magazine. It was a gorgeous yellow colour, and I had to have this colour in my house. The colour was called Mustard Yellow. I started researching, painting....and just kept painting.
Things have evolved since that time.
What's your favourite Pokoloko product, and why?
The Tree Lambswool Throw.
I fell in love with it's simplistic, organic design that draws you back into nature. Plus it’s reversible!
We’ve been carrying Pokoloko at The Lemonade Stand for approximately 2.5 years.
What’s a memorable, hilarious or embarrassing shop moment?
Most memorable moment for me was our Holiday Open house 2020. This is an annual event for us, but our normal plans had to change due to COVID. We typically have a packed house, food, drinks, giveaways, etc.
This year we had to plan for six at a time in the store, and try and create something outdoors for those in line. I didn't know if anyone was going to show up due to all the restrictions. To my surprise, our customers started lining up at 7:30 am in the morning and waiting three hours in the cold to get inside the store.
It warmed my heart so much to see our customers supporting us this way.
What style tip would you share for folk using a Pokoloko product?
Style tip on Turkish towels - use them as a table runner which are great for casual get togethers.
They look amazing in an outdoor casual setup. The towel does not need to fall off the edge of the table like typical runners.The Turkish towel can serve as the anchor in the middle of the table.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
My staff and I have thoroughly enjoyed carrying a wide variety of items from Pokoloko.Amazing designs, exceptional quality and a fantastic team to work with.
The Turkish towels have been our most loved product, followed by pillows and throws.
